Phil Nielsen will be bringing his Belgian horses out again this fall. Take a step back in time to a period when these beautiful animals were used for farm work. Young and old alike will enjoy taking a horse drawn wagon ride in the orchard. There is a small fee for the horse drawn wagon rides.

HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE - SEPTEMBER 11 REMEMBRANCE
Every year, as September 11th approaches, our thoughts are with all those who lost their lives, their families who were left to mourn, and those who fought and continue to fight for our country. As a way of showing our appreciation and eternal gratefulness for these individuals, we will offer a complimentary cider donut and coffee to any past or present military personnel, firefighter, EMT, or police officer on the September 11th anniversary. Make sure you have your military ID or badge and we will be honored to treat you. Once again, thank you to all of our hero's.
WATERMAN LIONS CLUB PORK CHOPS Our thanks to the Waterman Lions Club for coming out to grill their delicious pork chop sandwiches on October 4. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the lunch. We also want to thank everyone who supported this event. Proceeds from the barbeques are used to help fight blindness and diabetes worldwide. Your support of this dedicated organization is greatly appreciated.
BEEF: NOBODY DOES IT BETTER! The DeKalb County Cattlemen's Association was here grilling up some of their delicious DeKalb County beef on September 20th. They always do a GREAT job and everyone gives them rave reviews. Great job Cattlemen!! Thanks for coming out!
PUMPKIN HARVEST WEEKEND - Columbus Weekend
Pumpkins will be specially priced for the 4 day weekend.
We hope you'll come out to help us celebrate Pumpkin Harvest Weekend. It's really a great way to kick off the Halloween season. We'll have pumpkin pies available in addition to our other varieties and our pumpkins will be specially priced. The wagon rides will be running all four days. It's a great time to head out to the Pumpkin Patch to find that perfect Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin. We will also be giving away three giant pumpkins over the weekend. Get your carving supplies ready--you may be one of the lucky winners!
Waterman Lions Club Gobbler Gallop This 5K walk/run, sponsored by the Waterman Lions Club, is held every November in Waterman. The course is a certified 5K course that starts and finishes at Waterman Elementary School. The course winds through scenic village streets and is fully paved with mile markers for each mile. Chief Shabbona Forest Preserve – Chief Shabbona Forest Preserve is located 7 miles west of our orchard in Shabbona, IL. It is named after Chief Shabbona, a Pottawami Indian chief who lived in the area in the 1800’s. The forest preserve has beautiful nature trails, a playground, picnic tables and shelter houses.
Shabbona Lake State Park – Located 7 miles away in Shabbona, IL, this beautiful state park has very nice picnic areas, hiking trails, great fishing and abundant wildlife. For more detailed information on the park, please visit their website http://shabbonalake.com./
HOKA Turkey Farm - Located 2 miles west of Waterman just off of Rt. 30. These turkeys are raised on open ranges at the Kauffman family farm. The turkeys are given a feed which contains corn grown on the farm. They are never fed hormones or antibiotics for growth promotion. The results are a better quality and more flavorful meat. Waterman Winery and Vineyards – Located just an 1/8 of a mile from our orchard, Waterman Winery and Vineyards produces unique DeKalb County white and red wines. The grapes used are varieties suitable for northern Illinois. The 10 acre vineyard includes 30 cultivars, many of which are French-American hybrids.
